Low sodium diet

The main cause of high blood pressure is having excess of sodium. A low sodium diet plan is normally recommended to heart patients and blood pressure patients. In case of general low sodium intake, you can opt for a low sodium diet plan.

Low sodium diet is a healthy option in terms with a balanced diet. Low sodium diet works on the basis of less salt intake. This can be in case of regular diet or short term period diet. Some people opt for low sodium diet on daily basis. While some people follow a low sodium diet till it is prescribed.

There are some foods you can include and some foods you can’t include in your low sodium diet plan. You can include all the fresh fruits and veggies in your low sodium diet plan.

In terms with breakfast, you can include portions of fruits with cereals. In terms with lunch, you may include stir fried veggies but without the salt. You can also include one portion of fruit in this case.

In terms with dinner, you can include simple salads, with low salt dressing. As a sweet, you can include one portion of fruit in your diet plan.

You can include varied types of herbs instead of salt in your food. In case of salads you can use these dressings. In terms with low sodium diet plan, you should try and avoid any type of packaged food.

Packaged foods have high proportion of salt. Oats should be included in your low sodium diet plan. They are effective in case of people suffering from high blood pressure. In case of snacking you can include unsalted options. Try to stay away from any type of salted foods in case of low sodium diet plan.   Snacking
