Yoga for Heart Health

 Heart health should be your primary concern as its the most important organ of your body. If your heart is healthy, your body is healthy. 

So, it is vital to take care of your heart by having a good diet plan and practicing exercises on a daily basis.


A good diet plan should include healthy greens and lots of fruits. You can exercise in any way but it is essential to maintain a daily routine. Most people also opt for yoga asana to keep the heart-healthy. There are yoga poses that can prevent heart-related problems.

Yoga poses for the heart:

Apana Vayu mudra

The asana not only helps to strengthen the heart muscles but also helps to regularize the heart palpations. It is also effective to get rid of gastric problems. If you are new to yoga, then you can practice some warm-up exercises.

Then sit in a lotus pose. Stretch your hands in the outward direction and rest it on your hands. Your palms should face the ceiling. Now, fold your ring finger and middle finger towards the palm in such a way that it touches the tip of your thumb.

Fold the index finger inward and touch the base of the thumb. The small finger needs to be stretched in the outward direction. Always close your eyes while you practice this mudra.

Surya mudra

Surya mudra is also known as the sun mudra. The mudra helps in the proper functioning of the thyroid gland. That, in turn, affects heart function. It also helps to lower the bad cholesterol level of the body.

Start by sitting in lotus pose and stretch your hands outward. Bend your ring finger inward and tip resting close to the base of the thumb. Now, press the ring finger with your thumb. The index finger, little finger, and middle finger should be stretched outward. Now, close your eyes and hold on to this mudra.

The warrior pose

You need to start with basic stretching and then go on to do a mountain pose. Stretch one of your legs back while the other leg in the lunge like position with your knee. Take a nighty degree position with one of your hands above.

Bring your hands down and repeat this pose for flexibility. If you are new to yoga, then this may take some time. But once you are flexible, you'll be able to do it in the right way.

Setu asana

You can start this pose by a warm-up session. After this, lie down on your backside with your hands stretched sideways. Fold your knees and spread them out by slightly raising your body.

Now you need to take support from your hands and hold the position for some time. This is a super pose for your heart and the rest of the body and can be practiced on a daily basis.
